Join the board of directors to help set the Architecture Foundation of BC on a renewed path of inclusion, education and engagement. We are seeking new board members from the architecture and design community with a passion for design.

About the AFBC

Our vision: to build an architectural and design legacy for the people of British Columbia.

Our first initiative will introduce architecture to school kids in BC by building a curriculum for kindergarten and primary school educators to use in and out of classroom environments. We recognize the importance of exposing design to everyone, and helping our kids better understand the built environment is one of our continuing education program goals.

Our growth is dependent on the ongoing support of our design community enthusiasts, foundation friends and sponsors, and we salute all who are passionate about architecture and design in the built environment.

Join the Board

We are currently recruiting up to 4 Board Members. The first board members will be chosen from nominations received by May 1, 2018. A second intake will take place in the fall of 2018.

Board Member Qualifications

  • A passion for design in the built environment.
  • Knowledge of BC’s built environment community.
  • Commitment to the organization’s Vision and strategic direction.
  • Good standing in the British Columbia business community.
  • Experience with and/or openness to learning governance
  • Commitment to attending board meetings and AGM.

Terms

Board Members will serve a maximum of four 2-year terms.

Time Commitment

Ten board meetings per year (including the AGM) each approximately two hours for preparation and attendance. One to two additional workshops as required. Attendance at AFBC or occasional partner events.

Board Member Selection Process

  • Please submit your completed Expression of Interest form to the AFBC Board by May 1, 2018.
  • Please attach your resume and bio to your form.
  • Please submit two letters of reference to accompany your completed form. The reference may be from any organization or person(s) that can speak to your experience and leadership with respect to the qualifications identified above.
  • Successful nominees will be contacted and invited to the next closest board meeting in 2018 to be voted onto the Board of Directors for an initial 2-year term.
  • All nominees will be contacted by a member of the board to be informed of the status of their expression of interest and to see if they would be interested in applying for a Board position in the future.
