Architecture is more than the buildings we leave behind.

A profession is also shaped by the people who influence it: by what they teach, what they stand for, whom they welcome, the questions they ask and the responsibilities they are willing to carry.

The Architectural Achievement Awards celebrates those contributions.

They recognize architects, students and members of the profession who have used their knowledge, experience and influence in service of something larger than their own work — to strengthen communities, advance equity, act on climate, deepen relationships with Indigenous Peoples, mentor those who will follow and expand what the profession might yet become.

These are not awards for buildings. They are awards for participation.

For the choice to speak when a voice is needed. To listen when understanding is required. To share knowledge rather than hold it. To give time to a community. To open a door for someone else. To question what has always been done and imagine what might be done differently.

Because a profession is not shaped by buildings alone.

It is shaped by the values we carry, the relationships we cultivate and what we choose to leave in the hands of those who come next.

Tell us what they gave to the profession. Who learned from them. What changed because they were there. And what will continue because they were.

We have added a few new categories this year to celebrate specific contributions, including the Climate Advocacy Award, the Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation Award and the Bing Thom Award for Technical Excellence.
