The Architecture Foundation of British Columbia (AFBC) is a non-profit organization advocating for the advancement of architecture and design in British Columbia. The AFBC is also a registered charity that funds education programs, scholarships, and other philanthropic initiatives.

Our walking tour program through Vancouver's downtown is now launched! Join one of our tours highlighting key infrastructure that makes Vancouver what it is today, and discussing the role architects and planners have on building a good city.

The AFBC has been working on revamping and modernizing tours that were once hosted through the Architecture Institute of British Columbia (AIBC). We ran a small pilot program during Design Vancouver Festival 2024 and have been working diligently to build it into a full summer program.

2025 Architectural Awards of Excellence

For 2025, the AFBC is excited to offer a new Awards category: The Bing Thom Legacy Award for Architectural Excellence. This award honours contributions of individuals or teams whose completed work embodies the spirit of Bing Thom’s practice and legacy.

The AFBC would also like to acknowledge the generous contributions of Shinobu Homma in honour of Bing Thom to encourage young Architects to excel in the technical excellence in architecture.

The AFBC is now accepting submissions and jury applications for the 2025 Awards Program.
